COMING SOON:
The scoop on color treated and chemically treated hair
WHAT DO YOU DO TO REDUCE FRIZZ?
Day 1:
- Make sure you have stripped off old silicone & wax product build-up; Note: we “suggest” reducing the frequency of using a lathering shampoo. If you are unable to reduce the frequency then FOCUS…use smaller amounts on your scalp and avoid hair as much as possible!
- “Wash” your hair with a lathering shampoo, a zero lather shampoo or a conditioner. Use your fingers to create friction and exfoliate your scalp, rinse, make sure you get all shampoo out.
- Condition your hair; use a wide toothed comb or your fingers to comb conditioner through your hair from root to ends. Depending on hair length, clip it up and finish your shower without rinsing the conditioner out until the end.
- Lean over and rinse the conditioner out with cool to cold water, rinse off scalp 1st leaving some conditioner, especially on the ends.
- Blot dry or scrunch your hair in an old t-shirt ... you want to keep as much water in your hair as possible without dripping every where.
- Use the detangler & refresher spray, then use your hands to blend in the product.
- Depending on the length, texture and type of wave/curl you have, start with a dime-size portion of gel for shorter hair and/or increase to a quarter-size for longer hair. Section your hair and apply gel [like your stylist sections your hair to cut].The goal is to apply a thin layer of product from root to end…NOTE: for best results hair should be just shy of dripping wet!
- Use your fingers to rake through any tangles you may create in the gel application. Fingers are best, because they do not disturb the natural curl pattern as much a comb.
- Scrunch, to encourage the curls to “clump” together.
- Use clips to “set” your hair or “give it lift” in any areas that tend to stay smashed to your head because of the weight of your hair. I prefer the double pronged clips without the cross bar or the “duck bill clips”. You can find them at any beauty supply.
- Finally, air dry or defuse to an acceptable dryness, and remember…DON’T TOUCH it until it is completely dry! If you feel an area needs extra help you can use the pomade on damp to dry hair for the extra umph!
- Be Patient!…it will take experimenting to figure out the right amount of gel! If you get too much gel applied…it may feel a little crunchy…scrunch it with your hands a couple of times and this will get rid of the crunch. If your hair is dark brown or black and you apply too much gel, when it dries it may appear white or flaky…any gel you use too much of will appear this way. Use a spray bottle of water or the detangler & refresher spray to dilute the excess gel and use less next time.
Day 2:
- Depending on the amount of time you have to get ready, the texture and length of your hair you have a couple of options. Most likely your hair will look the best if you shower and follow the above directions from #3 down…condition everyday! Use your fingers to create friction just “as if you were using a lathering shampoo”.
- If you don’t have time for that whole routine, use a spray bottle of water and/or the detangler& refresher spray. Wet your hair …saturate it! Start at #6 and go down the list. You will not have to use as much gel this time because the water or refresher spray will re-activate the gel from the day before.
